The hen’s owner told Cuban TV the bird has laid large eggs before, but never one like this.
Cuban TV reports that a hen in the country’s eastern city of Guantanamo has laid a “super egg” that is heavier than the previous Guinness world record holder in Spain.
Demmy Rojas, the hen’s proud owner, told Solvision TV that he found the bird “showing off” the egg to other chickens in his coop.
A station employee told reporters that in other cases of huge eggs, there has been a second egg inside.
But he added that no one has tried to find out if that is the case this time because so many people want to see the egg intact.
Officially, the egg weighs .377 pounds, making it slightly heavier than the one laid in Spain’s Canary Islands.
The hen, whose identity is being kept secret, is said to be a mix of several breeds.
