Invading Spanish Cows Cause Bovine Terror August 15, 2008
Cattle gathering on a Spanish highway.
There was not enough grass in their usual grazing pastures, so the cows have invaded a Spanish village for the past month.
Residents of a small village in southern Spain have nearly become prisoners in their own homes due to a herd of about 150 ornery cows that have invaded the village in search of food.

Driven from the countryside by a shortage of pasture, the ruminant marauders have terrorized Prado Negro, near Granada, for more than a month, destroying trees and flowerpots as well as emptying trash bins in search of food.

Many of the cows have been unusually aggressive because they have just had calves.

Villagers blame the cows’ owners for not providing them with ample food, along with local officials who they say should be driving the beasts away.

“It’s a disgrace,” one resident told local media. “The cows spend more time in the main square than the meadow.”
