The U.S. Geological Survey determined the 5.1 magnitude quake struck about 15 miles (25 km) east of Guam’s city of Hagatna at a depth of 23 miles (37 km).
The agency said the epicenter was also about 125 miles (205 km) southwest of Saipan, capital of the U.S. commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.
A dispatcher from the Guam Police Department told the Associated Press that she felt a light tremor at her office in the city of Tiyan at 3:34 p.m. local time, but there have been no reports of injuries or damages on the island.
