Cyclone Phet Lashes Oman June 4, 2010
Cyclone Phet began to weaken as it approached the coast of Oman on Thursday.
Former Category 4 Cyclone Phet roared ashore from the Arabian Sea onto the coast of the Sultanate of Oman late in the week.

Phet affected maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz, through which 40 percent of all the world’s seaborne oil supply passes.

The center of the storm passed just east of the Oman capital of Muscat before eventually dissipating over northern parts of the Arabian Sea.

Remnants of the storm brought rain to southern Iran and southern Pakistan.
