Anchorage Quake Moves Furniture

Alaska’s largest city was jolted by a 4.9 magnitude quake that knocked some items off shelves on Monday afternoon and caused furniture to shift on the floor.

The Alaska Earthquake Information Center said the quake struck at 1:24 p.m. local time from an epicenter about 10 miles southwest of Anchorage.

Shaking was felt far beyond the city limits, including in Palmer, Wasilla, Valdez and Homer.

Despite the extent of the shaking, officials said there were no reports of significant damage, or any injuries.
