Tropical Storm Matthew Unleases Deadly Landslide October 1, 2010
Poorly organized Tropical Storm Matthew can be seen swirling across Honduras on Sunday.
Tropical Storm Matthew roared ashore along the Nicaragua-Honduras border over the weekend, then went on to drench parts of Mexico that were still reeling from Hurricane Karl’s deluges just a week earlier.

The combined rainfall is being blamed for a massive landslide in Mexico’s Chiapas state that buried hundreds of homes.

Officials in the town of Santa Maria de Tlahuitoltepec fear that that between 500 and 1,000 people could have been affected by the disaster.

Floods also inundated large swaths of riverside communities across southern Mexico, Guatemala and Honduras.
