Typhoon Megi Strikes South China October 29, 2010
An oversize eye helped to quickly weaken Typhoon Megi before it reached the coast of mainland China.
A much-weakened Typhoon Megi drenched China’s southeastern coast with up to 13 inches of rainfall after killing dozens of people in Taiwan and the northern Philippines during the previous week.

Authorities in Guangdong and Fujian provinces credit the evacuation of an estimated 313,000 people prior to Megi’s arrival for the lack of any fatalities.
