Western Mexico Lashed by Hurricane Beatriz June 24, 2011
The poorly defined circulation of Hurricane Beatriz can be seen swirling along Mexico's Pacific coast.
Hurricane Beatriz was responsible for three deaths as the second storm of the 2011 Pacific hurricane season brushed the Mexican coast near Manzanillo.

High winds uprooted trees and damaged homes, while torrential rains triggered mudslides and flash flooding that blocked coastal roadways.

The western state of Jalisco was among the areas hit hard by the storm.

Heavy rainfall was recorded in Tomatlan, Cabo Corrientes, La Huerta and Puerto Vallarta — one of Mexico's most popular tourist destinations.
