Pilot Peter Bosch captured these images of Mount Soputan’s brief eruption on Sunday morning.
A blast from Indonesia’s Mount Soputan volcano sent a column of ash soaring above Sulawesi Island, causing a brief disruption to air traffic in the area.

The Mount Soputan Geological Survey said the nearest villages were not threatened by the eruption, and that the activity subsided within a few hours.

Soputan has undergone more than 30 eruptive periods since record keeping began in 1785, with its last blast occurring on June 6, 2008.
