Tropical Storm Don Fizzles on Texas Coast August 5, 2011
Satellite Image
Don was poorly organized and unable to survive the dry air streaming into it from parched southern Texas.
Drought-stricken residents of Texas failed to receive the bounty of rainfall they had hoped for when Tropical Storm Don moved ashore along the state's southern Gulf Coast.

But the extremely aird condition left by months of parching drought caused the storm to virtually evaporate when it made landfall between Brownsville and Corpus Christi.

There were no reports of damage or injuries due to Don's arrival.
