Quake Map of China
Hundreds of homes in far western China’s Xinjiang region were wrecked by a 5.3 magnitude quake that jolted Shache county on the evening of December 1.

While there no reported casualties from the shaking, at least 290 homes collapsed and more than 1,960 others sustained at least some damage, according to the official Xinhua news agency.

The Ministry of Civil Affairs told reporters that tents and other relief materials were dispatched to the quake-hit area.

The same region was rocked by a slightly stronger temblor that struck before dawn on November 1, damaging hundreds of homes along the border of Yining and Gonglio counties.
