Typhoon Damrey Brings Unwelcome Rain to Japan and China August 3, 2012
CIMSS Satellite Loop
Typhoon Damrey can be seen approaching the coast of China Thursday afternoon as Typhoon Saola strikes Taiwan in the lower left of the image.
Far southern Japan was drenched with more unwelcome rainfall when Tropical Storm Damrey attained typhoon force as it skirted the southern tip of Kyushu Island on Wednesday.

There were no reports of any significant accidents or damage as a result of the storm’s passage.

Damrey then gained further strength over the East China Sea before making landfall on the Chinese mainland north of Shanghai late Thursday.

The storm was then expected to bring more heavy rainfall to a region of China still reeling from disastrous flooding that struck during the latter half of July.
